Our 4th of July Celebration

It has been a long two weeks at the O'Brien house.  Between camp, work, and just living life we have not spent an entire day "at home."  We decided that we would have a home celebration of the 4th of July and it ended up being everything we could have hoped for and more!!
To start off our celebration, we feasted on steak, shish-ka-bobs, corn on the cob, and grilled taters and onions.  I wish that I would have taken a picture of the feast, but I didn't think about that until later.  The steaks were a beautiful rare and all the veggies we grilled to perfection.  Chris is well on his way to becoming a "master griller!!"
After the feast we treated ourselves to something we give our girls every day......a nap.  So unusual for us to rest on a day off instead of trying to cram in an agenda loaded day!  Yesterday a nap was the greatest thing we could give ourselves.  It refreshed us for our night in of celebrating.
When the girls woke up we began the actual celebrating with a pool party!!!

What would a 4th of July party be without firecrackers?! Who better than "The Man" to provide that service?  I think that he had more fun than the girls seeing how high he could get things to blow up with the use of fire crackers!  He definitely provided us                      entertainment and thankfully remained safe!
No pool party is ever complete without snacks and s'mores!!
The little girls snacked until their tummies were full and swam until they were wrinkled and cold from the sun going down.  Then came the anticipated fireworks show!!
This was probably one of our "biggest" fireworks.  Although we have had some rain we weren't entirely comfortable with lighting things that went more than a few feet!!
The master of the show!!!

A tired little face!!!!
By the end of the day, my bathroom was littered with towels, swimming suits and dirty little foot prints.  My kitchen saw some effects but not many because we used our "outdoor" kitchen.  Most importantly, my heart was overflowing with joy and love for my family.  We had such a beautiful time together keeping it simple, enjoying each other's company, and logging this as a time to never forget.  Kind of a fun mixture of emotions on July 4, 2013 knowing that this chapter in our live's is closing and new one is beginning with the much anticipated birth of our little one!!!

But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching, and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
